Newhaven CollegeJunior Playspace

Inspired by Phillip Island's dynamic coastal landscape, Newhaven College’s Junior Playspace encourages exploration, creativity, and social connection through nature-based play. A sequence of interconnected spaces integrate landform, coastal planting, custom play elements and outdoor learning to create a progressive landscape where play emerges from the environment itself.

At its heart, a sunken yarning circle provides a flexible space for gathering, storytelling and learning, while custom climbing structures, sand play and natural materials encourage active and imaginative play. Designed to evolve with seasonal change, the playspace provides an immersive environment that celebrates the unique character of the local landscape.
